USS CONSTITUTION
From one of the most famous ships from the war of 1812. The first war action occurred on August 19, 1812 with Captain Issac Hull at the command defeated HMS Guerriere. It was in this battle the Constitution earned the nickname "Old Ironsides". The last war action for this ship was February 20, 1815 commanded by Charles Stewart captured two British warships in a single engagement, the HMS Cyane and the HMS Levant. In between these two fine captains was Captain William Bainbridge. This fine crew is depicted here.

Welcome to Herb’s Figures
My interest in creating miniature figures began while building model ships. Time after time, I found myself searching for the right figures, only to discover they either didn’t exist or arrived with broken arms, legs, swords, or other fragile details. It became clear that there was a need for historically accurate, museum-quality figures that were both exceptionally detailed and durable enough to survive shipping. With encouragement from fellow modelers, I decided to create the figures I had always wanted to buy myself.
Every figure begins with extensive historical research. I strive to capture not only the correct uniforms and equipment, but also natural poses and realistic expressions. Each design is optimized for high-resolution resin printing and tested through prototype prints to ensure it meets my standards before it is offered for sale.
My engineering background has been invaluable in developing this process. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. I began my career as a Design Engineer with Ford Motor Company before joining Nordson Corporation, where I spent more than 34 years in engineering and executive leadership, serving as a Division Vice President during my final 16 years. Along the way, I became the inventor or co-inventor on eleven U.S. patents.
Outside the workshop, I enjoy machining (two knee mills and a gunsmithing lathe), Corvettes and street rods, photography, Carrera 1/24 slot cars, and of course, model ships. Today, Herb’s Figures combines those lifelong interests in engineering, history, and craftsmanship to create custom figures for modelers around the world.
I live in Kennebunkport, Maine, with my wife, Sharon, and our “little guy in a fur suit,” Rocky, our seven-year-old Golden Retriever.
